My original plan was to go down to North Beach this morning because the weather forecast for this morning was pretty awesome (mostly cloudy to partly cloudy @ sunrise). Woke up @ 330am, got my coffee and packed my gear. I go outside and I see the moon...no clouds, clear as clear can be! WTF. So, I say to myself, do I really want to drive an hour for a sunrise? I check the weather forecast in Annapolis...clear. I check the forecast @ Great Falls...clear. I check the forecast @ Woodbridge...clear. I check the forecast @ Alexandria....partly cloudy....bingo!. I head down to Jones Point Park, just on the other side of the Woodrow Wilson. And wouldn't you know, the gates are closed. I had to park in the residential district and walk half a mile. And look, I don't know about you, but this is not partly cloudy to me.
